Blackjack Tips

I want to share with you a couple of Blackjack tips that were passed on to me. These Blackjack tips are vital if you are planning to win at Blackjack over the long term. Too many gamblers believe the game of Blackjack is all about luck, but it’s not. By following a few simple tips and having good money management, you can go far with the game of Blackjack.

Blackjack Tip One: Don’t always double down on 11.

A common belief is that you should always double down on eleven. Why? Have you ever stopped to ask why this is? This adage started back in the days of single deck Blackjack, but it can’t truly be relevant in today’s world of multiple deck Blackjack can it? There are times when you should not double down on 11. One of those times would be when a dealer has a 10 showing. Another time would be when you are playing a 4,6,8 or other deck shoe and you are either around the start of the shoe or towards the end and know that many small cards remain. Doubling down on 11 should not be an automatic play for any serious Blackjack player.

Blackjack Tip Two: Let the dealer bust.

There are situations where you should not take a hit. If you have 12-16 and the dealer has a 2-6 showing, don’t take a card unless you have a soft 12-16. You have to give the dealer an opportunity to bust if you want to win. If you have a hard twelve and the dealer is showing a two or three, you may want to hit. The widely held belief is that you stay, but ask any experience Blackjack dealer and they will tell you that more dealer hands are made with a 12 than you can believe.
